Greenshot is a crisp, lightweight, and user-friendly screenshot tool. This tool is open-source and allows users to capture the full window or a selection of the window. This makes getting the exact screenshot you need easy to do and eliminates time editing out any part of the screenshot you didn’t want. Greenshot also supports the capture of web pages when using Internet Explorer. This is a free app with a lot of utility. You're also able to annotate, highlight, and even obscure parts of the screenshots that you take. This program allows you to get your screenshot easily, while also having the ability to edit and save the screenshot. They also allow you to save and export the captured shots.

While most computers offer a built-in screenshot capability, these are often basic and sometimes hard to access. It’s easy to forget exactly which magic combination of keys that needs to be pressed to take a screenshot. Greenshot allows you the tools you need to quickly and effortlessly take a screenshot and edit it. This saves time and also helps avoid accidental and sometimes embarrassing screenshot aspects.

The app allows for hotkey setup, making it easy to use the many features. For instance, you can use the Impr keys to capture and share, Alt+Print for recording an active window, and more. These keys are customizable, so you’ll have the option to adjust them as you like. For a simple screenshot, all that’s required is that you hold down your mouse and drag the area you’d like to screenshot. Once you’ve got the shot, the image turns green temporarily, then produces a shutter sound to notify you that the shot has been taken. Once you’ve taken a screenshot, you can then edit as you wish. This app allows you to embellish the shots with text, arrows, and more. You’ll also be allowed to save your shots in various formats, such as JPEG, GIF, and more.

Greenshot also comes with a built-in editor that allows you to mildly edit your photos whether by adding stickers and text or by resizing and cropping the photos. You’re also able to draw freehand on the captured images. If you’re looking for more, you’re always able to select a plug-in to use with the tool, such as Picasa, Flickr, and the like. There are many different features available, and all of them combined really outdo your standard screenshot capabilities.

Overall, Greenshot is an easy-to-use and advanced screenshot tool. It’s free to download and use and offers many other features that similar tools do not. Because of that, it’s a great option for anyone looking for a better way to take and edit screenshots or screen recordings.
